Notes from Sunday | Memorial Day Weekend 2014

May 25, 2014
By H.B. Charles Jr.
Happy Memorial Day! Today is an anniversary, of sorts, for me. I first preached at the Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church the last weekend of May, six years ago. Unfortunately, I did not get to worship with my congregation today, as I was away on assignment. But I heard it was a great day of worship. Thanks to our pastors, staff, and volunteers for carrying on in my absence. You make it happen! I preached today at the Parkside Church in Cleveland, where Alistair Begg is Pastor-Teacher. We had a wonderful celebration of Easter at Shiloh Church yesterday! A big shout-out to our Pastor of Worship & Arts, Joe Pace, planned and led our Holy Week observances. Your service enabled many to worship freely, hear the gospel, and meet Jesus for the first time! I am very proud of you and grateful of your partnership in the gospel. You make it happen! Our worship...

Ligon Duncan’s conference message on 1 Kings 19 Thursday evening was stellar. I needed that message more than I can say. The combined choirs of the Shiloh Church and the First Baptist Church sang together before...

January 12-19 is Prayer Emphasis Week at the Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church. We start the year in believing prayer for one another, our congregation, and our city. Between our two services, I taught a lesson entitled, “Pray for One Another,” about the importance of intercessory prayer. I intend to teach, “Pray for the Lost,” next Sunday. Shout-out to our new media team members for your service this weekend. Great job! We had a lot of guests in worship. Very encouraging. Praise God for the one who was baptized! The choir did a prayer medley before I preached that was fantastic....
