  • Pray for the 2018 SBC Pastors’ Conference
  • As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. – 2 Timothy 4:5

We are only a few days away from this 2018 SBC Pastors’ Conference in Dallas (June 10-11), which kicks-off the Southern Baptist Convention each year.

It has been joy, honor, and privilege to serve as conference president this year (The pastors’ conference presidency is an annual appointment. A new president will be elected at the end of this year’s conference.)

With all the controversy swirling around the Southern Baptist Convention this year, I appeal to you to pray earnestly that the Lord will use the Pastors’ Conference to set a tone for the convention through Christ-exalting worship, faithful preaching, and believing prayer.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Fulfill Your Ministry!” It is our prayer that the conference will challenge and encourage attendees to faithfully carry out the ministry the Lord has entrusted to them.

Please pray for speakers who will preach the word. May the Lord grant them to preach with faithfulness, clarity, authority passion, wisdom, humility, and freedom.

The Shiloh Church Choir, under the direction of Joe Pace, will lead the musical praise for the conference. This is the first time our church has traveled to minister together. For some members, it will be the first time they have been on a plane. Pray for safe travel and divine help as they minister the word through song.

I also ask you to pray for our President Steve Gaines, as he leads this year’s convention. Also pray for the men who will be nominated for president. May the Lord raise up the man for the hour and draw us together in spiritual unity behind his leadership. Likewise, pray for the various important matters that will come before the convention this year.

I consider it a blessing to be a part of the SBC. We are bound together by a high view of scripture, an unwavering commitment to the Great Commission, and strategic partnership for church planting, Christian education, and world missions. It is an even greater blessing to lead the Pastors’ Conference this year to encourage pastors and churches to fulfill their ministry!

We look forward to seeing you in Dallas! All are welcome to attend the conference. You can also watch the convergence on live stream.
