This week, it will be our joy and privilege to host the fourth annual Cutting It Straight Expository Preaching Conference at the Shiloh Church in Jacksonville, Florida.

This conference exists to train, model, and promote biblical teaching and preaching. In using the term “expository preaching,” the concern is not about a sermon method. It is about how the word of God is handled in preaching and teaching.

Beyond the pulpit, I believe everything that happens in the church should be an extension of the ministry of the word. Our goal is to help church leaders develop a biblical philosophy of ministry. This year, we will feature tracks that target worship leaders, student ministers, Christian education workers, ministers’ wives, and women’s ministry leaders.

I am grateful Cutting It Straight will take place this year. A week ago, the event was in jeopardy as Hurricane Irma slowly strutted up the state of Florida. By God’s mercy, our church campuses suffered minimal damage. And our city is well on its way to recovery. We are ready to host the hundreds who will come to Jacksonville for Cutting It Straight!

Unfortunately, several of our scheduled speakers will not be able to attend. But our schedule is full of faithful preachers and teachers. And we are looking forward to a great week in the word.

This summer, the Shiloh children’s choir recorded a worship CD. Advance copies of the CD will be available this week at Cutting It Straight. It is a strong project with mostly original material. You will be edified by it. And you will find good material to use in children’s ministry.

Online registration is closed. However, on-site registration will open Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM. All events will take place at the Shiloh Church downtown campus. Attire is casual.

Additionally, if you are a pastor, ministry or worship leader in the Jacksonville area, we would like to extend free registration to you for Cutting It Straight this week. With all the pressures of serving your church and community in the aftermath of Irma, we want this conference to be our gift to you! Hope to see you there!
