  • Another good day of worship today at Shiloh.

I finally finished my lesson today on the sovereignty of God in my Bible Study Fellowship class. I have enjoyed teaching on this great subject.

I am grateful for all of our guests who joined us in worship today.

Praise God for those who were baptized as followers of Christ today

I sung “Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior” before I preached this morning. Both services!

I preached from 1 John 2:15-17 about “A Love That Hates.”

Sermon Point: Children of God must not and should not love the world.

    Sermon Outline:

    I. You must not love the world (2:15a).

II. You should not love the world (2:15b-17).

There are three reasons why we should not love the world.

    A. The love of the world is mutually exclusive (v. 15b).

    B. The nature of the world is self-centered (v. 16).

    C. The end of the world is coming soon (v. 17).

1 John 2:15-17 is a hard word. But I really enjoyed studying it and preaching it today. It is one of the great texts of 1 John.

Next week’s sermon: “A Warning Against Spiritual Deception” (1 John 2:18-27)

My Miami Heat handedly defeated the New York Nicks today. They also won the Southeast Title. On of many more this season, I trust.

One hundred years ago today, the RMS Titanic drowned in the Atlantic Ocean.

I am praying for the children and young people who will be taking the FCAT tests this week. May the Lord grant them focus, diligence, and success.

I am scheduled to preach for Dr. Kerry Wesley at the Antioch Fellowship Baptist Church in Dallas for the next several days. Pray for me.

And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this:‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions. – Mark 12:28-34 Armies win…
