  • Yesterday was a long, good day of worship.

I really enjoyed teaching my Bible Study Fellowship group. In completed an exposition of 1 Timothy 1:3-11. I plan to teach 1 Timothy 1:12-17 next week.

As always, it was great to have our guests in worship yesterday.

Our children’s choir sang during the 10:15 service. Hailey participated for the second time. And for the second time, she stared at the floor monitors, rather than actually singing.

The choir sang a Thomas Whitfield classic, “Only A Look.” Loved it.

Praise God for the seven persons who were baptized yesterday!

I preached from the story of Cain and Abel in Genesis 4:1-16. I called the message, “The Priority of True Worship.”

The ultimate priority of true worship is to make sure that God is pleased.

    Sermon Outline:

    I.     Make sure God is pleased with your offering.

II.     Make sure God is pleased with your attitude.

III.     Make sure God is pleased with your relationships.

I intended to go in a different direction with the sermon. But the more I studied the text, the more it changed the sermon. I am so glad it was not the other way around.

Praise God for the one who was added to the church yesterday.

This is our Stewardship Emphasis Month. Our associate pastors are preaching on stewardship on Wednesday nights. I only planned to preach one sermon on stewardship during our Sunday morning services. I think I have changed my mind.

I plan to preach next Sunday on Matthew 17:24-27.

Yesterday afternoon, our congregation worshiped with the Abyssinia Baptist Church to celebrate the 15 years of pastoral leadership Eugene Diamond. Our choir sang. And I brought the message. It was a good time of worship and fellowship.

When I got home, Crystal fed us. Then I passed out.

I really needed the Dallas Cowboys to win yesterday. Yet the Baltimore Ravens defeated them 31-29.

Yes! The Jacksonville Jaguars did not lose yesterday! Yes!

RG3 Looked good post concussion. Can’t believe the Atlanta Falcons are 6-0. The Giants whipped the 49ers again. Very glad the Seahawks beat the Patriots. The Browns finally won. The Jets continue to be full of surprises. Aaron Rodgers was remarkable last night.

The USC Trojans moved up in the polls to #10, after defeating the Washington 24-14.

My New York Yankees fell to the Detroit Tigers last night to go 0-2 in the ALCS. To make matters worse, the lost Derrick Jeter to a broken ankle. Things do not look good.
