  • safe_image.php_I love the Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church!

I came home from a long week physically tired but spiritual refreshed. I was really excited about being in my pulpit this morning.

As Saturday passed, I had a nagging suspicion that the George Zimmerman verdict would be announced before the day was over. I was right. So I changed my preaching plan for the day. I think it was for the best.

Our youth made it home safely from youth camp Saturday evening. May the week they spent in the word and in service to others bear much fruit to the glory of God!

In my Bible Study Fellowship group, I spent my third week working through 1 Timothy 6:3-10. I still did not finish. We will try again next Sunday.

We had many guests in worship today, from various parts of the country. Glad to have them. Glad to meet them.

Our choir did a great job today. I am so proud of how our music department is stepping up during our leadership transition.

I ditched Daniel for the second week in a row. I preached from Matthew 6:10b – “The Most Difficult Prayer to Pray.”

I argued that to pray, “Your will be done,” requires…

    1. A heart of self-denial
    2. A heart of stubborn faith
    3. A heart of steadfast patience

Praise God for those who were saved and added to the church today.

I plan to finish the last two chapters of Daniel over these last two Sundays of July.

We are dressing casually this month at Shiloh. It was the first time I have preached at Shiloh without a jacket. Felt very weird.

I am on my way to Los Angeles to preach Monday and Tuesday for the California Baptist State Convention. Please remember this meeting in your prayers.

God willing, I will begin a brief series this Wednesday night at Shiloh on the parables of Jesus in Matthew 25. Looking forward to it.

I really did not pay much attention to sports news this week. I didn’t really have time during E.K. Bailey Preaching Conference in Dallas. So I don’t really know what I missed. I trust I’ll catch up over the next few days.

How was your Sunday of corporate worship?
