Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. – 2 Timothy 2:15
This week (September 17-19, 2019), the Cutting It Straight Expository Preaching Conference will take place at the Shiloh Church in Jacksonville, Florida, while I serve as pastor.
The purpose of Cutting It Straight is to train, model, and promote faithful and clear Bible exposition in the preaching and teaching of God’s word. It also seeks to help ministry leaders develop a biblical philosophy of ministry as they do the Lord’s work in the local churches.
This is the sixth year of the conference. And we are excited about what the Lord will do this week through our general sessions, practical workshops, and worship services.
It is our desire that conference attendees will leave better equipped with tools, principles, and resources to do faithful word work. We also hope the attendees will be inspired to pursue further training to grow in their ability to rightly handle the word of truth. And we pray weary ministers will return to their place of labor spiritually refreshed for the work ahead.
Pray for Cutting It Straight this week.
- Pray for wisdom for all of our speakers.
- Pray for enrichment for all conference attendees.
- Pray for the safety for those traveling to Jacksonville by land or by air.
- Pray for our church campus to be a place of refreshment.
- Pray for divine help for the Shiloh Church pastors and staff.
- Pray for strength for the Shiloh Church volunteers who will serve our guests.
- Pray for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to be exalted!
Likewise, please pray for me.
To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. – 2 Thessalonians 1:11
NOTICE: The conference will be three full days of events, Tuesday through Thursday. Evening services are open to the public. Each night’s service, beginning at 7:00 PM EST, will be streamed live on the Shiloh Church website. All main session messages will be posted after the conference.
