  • #149 | Preach the Truth [PODCAST]
  • Welcome to The On Preaching Podcast, the podcast dedicated to helping you preach faithfully, clearly, and better.

In this episode, H.B. issues a challenge to preach the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Preach divine truth. The preacher is called to be a message for God. This is a wonderful privilege and an awesome responsibility. Preach as one who will give account to God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Preach biblical truth. God has spoken through his word. Scripture is breathed out by God. It is our responsibility to preach scripture as the divine revelation from God to man.

Preach gospel truth. Scripture has been given to give saving knowledge of God through faith in Christ. Preach the divine Person and redemptive work of Christ for salvation and sanctification.

Preach objective truth. Truth is preceded by the definite article, not a personal pronoun. There is no such thing as “my truth” or “your truth. There is only the truth – God’s truth. Preach it unapologetically.

Preach eternal truth. The economy of scripture is simple: that which lasts the longest is worth the most. Point your hearers beyond the earthly mundane, and temporary to that which is eternal.

Preach spiritual truth. We are not life-coaches. We are ambassadors of Christ. Our chief concern should be spiritual transformation through the power of the word of God. Aim at the heart!

Preach lived truth. No preacher perfectly lives up to the righteous commands of God’s scripture. But our lives should not contradict the truth we preach. Guard your live and your teaching.

Truth without love is brutality, and love without truth is hypocrisy.
