Welcome to The On Preaching Podcast, the podcast dedicated to helping you preach faithfully, clearly, and better.
I have been preaching through the book of Jonah at my church. During my studies, I have been helped and edified by the book Running From Mercy, by Anthony J. Carter. I reached out to Pastor Carter and he graciously agreed to join me for a conversation about preaching the book of Jonah.
Anthony Carter is the founding pastor of East Point Church in East Point, GA, where he has served since 2008. A graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Carter is the author of several books, including Blood Work, Glory Road, and Black & Reformed.
Pastor Carter has preached the book of Jonah several times over the years. His study and teaching of the book led to the writing of Running From Mercy. In this conversation, we have a great discussion about Jonah preaching themes, series preaching, and writing books. Enjoy!

The book of Jonah is not about the runaway prophet, a great fish, or wicked Nineveh. It is about God. Jonah is about sovereignty of God and the mercy of God. More specifically, Jonah is about the sovereign mercy of God. – H.B. Charles Jr.
