photoI spent this week in Dallas at the 2013 E.K. Bailey Conference: Preaching 360.

I had the opportunity to speak in the Tuesday evening general session. I gave four lectures on preaching through Philippians. And I participated in a round-table discussion on biblical preaching.

Many thanks to Pastor Bryan Carter for the opportunity to take part in this year’s conference and to the Concord Church staff for their great hospitality.

Steve Lawson was outstanding. Bryan Lorritts was compelling. Bryan Carter was timely. John MacArthur was stellar. Robert Smith was encouraging. Jasper Williams was classic. Donald Parson was thought-provoking. It was the first opportunity I have had to hear E. Dewey Smith in person. Glad to have had him at this year’s conference.

I thoroughly enjoyed this year’s conference. It was a joy and a privilege to participate. Reconnecting with friends from around the country was great. And I am looking forward to next year’s conference: Preaching 360: Old Testament Edition (July 7-10, 2014).

I am praying for the jury in Sanford, Florida, that is deliberating the George Zimmerman trial. Either way the verdict lands, true justice is ultimately in the hands of God. And I pray that African-Americans will not respond violently. The church will have to lead the way.
