  • safe_image.php_I praise the Lord for the opportunity to worship corporately and publicly with the saints of the Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church today.

In my Bible Study Fellowship, I taught on 1 Timothy 6:1-2: “The Ethic of Christian Servanthood.” In verse 1, Paul gives instructions for serving unbelieving masters. In verse 2, Paul gives instructions for serving believing masters. (I plan to teach verses 3-10 next Sunday).

As always, it was good to have our guests in worship today.

I preached from Daniel 9: “Prayer that Makes a Difference”

Daniel 9 records one of the greatest yet neglected prayers of the Bible. It is primarily a prayer of confession (v. 4).

Sermon Point: Prayer makes a difference with God when it makes a difference with you.

    Sermon Outline:

    1. A biblical promise (9:1-3)
    2. A sincere prayer (9:4-19)
    3. A divine answer (9:20-27)

The heart of the text is Daniel’s prayer in verses 4-19. It consists of adoration (v. 4), confession (vv. 5-14), and petition (vv. 15-19).

The Lord sent the angel, Gabriel, to answer Daniel’s prayer, who showed up before Daniel finished his prayer (vv. 20-23).

My sermons almost perished in the quicksand of the “70 Weeks” in verses 24-27.

I have three more chapters to go in my study of Daniel. These later chapters have been difficult to interpret and

Praise God for those who were saved and added to the church today.

Breaking News The Miami Heat at the 2013 NBA Champions! Again.

Further Breaking News: LeBron James is the finals MVP. Again.

These Heat/Spurs finals were the best I have ever seen. Ever.

The news broke this evening that my hometown team – the Los Angeles Clippers – have reached a deal with the Boston Celtics to acquire Doc Rivers as their new coach! I now predict my clippers will be in the Western Conference finals next season.

Saturday night, I went to sleep right when the Adrion Broner/Paul Magiano fight began. I rolled over just as it was announced, “And the new…” It’s a pretty big deal that Broner jumped two weight classes and still won the championship.

Did anyone know the NHL finals were going on? Who knew?
