This weekend was our Youth Explosion.
Friday night, Kierra “KiKi” Sheard was in concert at Shiloh. Crystal and I enjoyed it more than the youth did!
I woke up early Saturday morning in great pain. I went to the ER. The doctor asked me not to do anything for the rest of the weekend. I was stunned. It was the first time a doctor ever told me I should not preach.
The medication she gave me put be down for the rest of the day.
I missed 8 AM service. Thanks to D. Lewis for filling in. I was determined to preach at 10:15, even though I was not feeling well.
We recognized our graduates during out 10:15 service. I was glad to be there and participate in congratulating our graduates.
Our Youth Choir led the music and did a great job. It has been a long time since I heard them sing, as they lead the music each week in the youth service. I was very proud of them. Good job, R. Bass.
Grateful for all of the guests who joined us for worship. There was a family reunion and a group of students who joined us at 10:15. Very encouraging.
Praise God for those who were baptized!
I pulled a file and preached a message from Genesis 25 that I entitled, “Don’t Settle for Soup.”
I pray the sermon was better than I felt.
Of course, I was working on something else to preach that I did not get to spend anymore time with after Friday afternoon. But I look forward to the opportunity to preach or teach Proverbs 30:24-28.
Praise God for those who were added to the church today!
My Miami Heat broke the hearts of the Boston Celtics with a game 7 victory in Miami Saturday night. Bring on the Thunder!
After the last two games against the Celtics, I do not think LeBron James has anything to prove to anyone. He is the man!
The Belmont Stakes horse race took place Saturday. A horse that was supposed to win didn’t race. Some other horse race won. That’s all I know about it.
I predict the Heat will beat OKC in six games. There it is.
Timothy Bradley won a controversial split-decision victory over Manny Pacquiao Saturday night in Las Vegas.
I disagree with the decision. But if the judges were scoring on the basis of who was the aggressor, I understand why two judges gave the fight to Bradley. Even the announcers kept mentioning that PacMan was taking off the first two minutes of each round.
Saturday’s night fight virtually guaranteed that there will not be a Mayweather-Pacquiao showdown. That’s boxing for you. The fight fans want to see will not take place.
Thanks for your prayers and expressions of concern. Please continue to remember me in your prayers.
