  • safe_image.php_It was a great, long weekend.

Saturday morning, we had our 33 Series Men’s Bible Study, corporate prayer meeting, and New Members Class.

Our Bible Study Fellowship groups began a new semester yesterday. I resumed my study of 1 Timothy. I taught on the spiritual qualifications for elders in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. Some things never change, as I did not finish the lesson. Part 2 next Sunday.

We celebrated the Lord’s Supper and welcomed in our new members.

I was good to have our guests in worship.

I continued my new series called, “Family Matters.” I preached a message that I entitled, “What about Singles?”

    Yesterday was a first. I had 8 points. 8!

Praise God for those who were added to the church yesterday.

Next Sunday’s message: “The Importance of Spiritual Compatibility” (2 Co. 6:14-18).

In the message, I sought to summarize what the New Testament says to and about Christian singles.

Congratulations to the Baltimore Ravens on winning Super Bowl XLVII.

I publicly picked the San Francisco 49ers. Now I will have to face religious persecution from Shiloh members next Sunday!

Pastor W. Wilson and I tried to cheer the 49ers to victory. But it was a house divided, as Crystal noisily cheered for the Ravens.

Crystal has banned me from making any more predictions. I predict I will make more predictions.

The brother-versus-brother element was exhilarating. I wonder how the Harbaugh parents made it through the game.

The Jacoby Jones 108 kick-off return at the beginning of the 3rd quarter was the play of the game.

It was moving to see the Sandy Hook Elementary School kids single in the pregame show.

    The Super Bowl half-time show.

I didn’t really pay attention to the commercials. Did I miss anything?

Have you ever seen anything like the Super Bowl blackout last night?

No matter what you think about Ray Lewis, it is something for him to ride off into the sunset of with a Super Bowl win.

Congratulations to the 2013 inductees to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Coach Bill Parcells is one of the best coaches ever. And I am glad Chris Carter finally made it in.

I think Peyton Manning should have won the NFL MVP. But I can’t be upset about Adrian Peterson winning.

If anyone cares, the Miami Heat won last night. Unfortunately, so did the Lakers.

So it seems that no one wants to be #1 in NCAA men’s basketball.
