Welcome to episode #35 of The On Preaching Podcast, the podcast dedicated to helping you to preach faithfully, clearly, and better.

In this episode, I want to talk to you about nine (9) steps to getting the sermon off to a good start…

    1. Introduce something.
    2. Place the text in its proper context.
    3. state the point of the message.
    4. Give an accurate forecast.
    5. Write it out.
    6. No dumping allowed.
    7. Know your audience.
    8. Practice variety.
    9. Keeps it brief.

What do you think? What do you think makes an effective sermon introduction? What are the keys to getting the sermon off to a good start?
