This is episode #022 of The On Preaching Podcast, the podcast dedicated to helping you preach faithfully, clearly, and better.
In this episode, we talk about seven reasons why you should plan your preaching in advance.
Here are 7 reasons why you should plan your preaching:
- To fulfill your divine call to preach the word (2 Timothy 4:1-2).
- To practice biblical wisdom (Proverbs 3: 5-6; 15:22; 13:3).
- To maintain doctrinal balance (2 Timothy 3: 16-17; Acts 20: 26-27).
- To faithfully shepherd the congregation (1 Timothy 4:16; 2 Timothy 2:15).
- To strategically oversee corporate worship (Colossians 3:16).
- To be a good steward of your time (Ephesians 5:15-17).
- To submit to the leadership of the holy spirit (Romans 8:14,27; 1 Corinthians 2: 11-12).

“Good preaching is about getting base hits week after the week, not preaching one big, grand-slam sermon. Only a few preachers have the capacity to create and deliver an oratorical masterpiece, but every preacher called by God can preach with consistent effectiveness and faithfulness to God’s Word.” – Stephen N. Rummage
