Description

“I have stored up your word in my heart,” confessed the psalmist, “That I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11). His goal was not to hide the word in his heart as a secret. It was to store up the word in his heart like a treasure.

The word of God is a treasure worth giving everything to gain, a treasure worth doing anything to keep. That treasure is infinitely greater than health, wealth, and success. It is the Lord Jesus Christ “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3).

The more you store up God’s word in your heart, the more it will keep you from sinning against the Lord. This little book of biblical devotions seeks to help you treasure the truth. Each chapter is a meditation on a passage of scripture. The goal is to think God’s thoughts after him, as he reveals himself in the sacred scriptures.

I hope you will find these biblical reflections to be clear, practical, and enriching. Take a chapter a day. Live with the truth of that scripture for the day. Think God’s thoughts after him. But don’t stop there. Trust and obey the word, submitting every aspect of your life to the Lordship of Christ. Let the word be a lamp for your feet and a lamp for your path (Psalm 119:105).

My prayer is that you will treasure the word of Christ and the Christ of the word as you read through these chapters. May your reading of these treasures of truth leave you richer, fuller, and stronger in Christ!
