  • #062: My Sermon Preparation Hacks [PODCAST]
  •

Welcome to The On Preaching Podcast, the podcast dedicated to helping you preach faithfully, clearly, and better.

In this episode, I want to talk to you about my sermon preparation hacks.

Every preacher should have an intentional sermon preparation process. This process should include standard elements, which include reading deeply, recording carefully, and reflecting prayerfully. But these standard elements should be personalized. As you prepare to preach, do what works best for you!

What are the sermon preparation hacks I use to get ready to preach the word?

    1. I prepare a study file with all of the research materials I will need.
    2. I use Bible study software to do word studies.
    3. I type out a document with my sermon text on it.
    4. I read and write aloud.
    5. I use study bibles in the early stages of my research.
    6. I create study file documents to record my notes.
    7. I write out a complete sermon skeleton.
    8. I wait to read my favorite commentaries until the end of my study.
    9. I write what I can write as I manuscript the sermon.
    10. I color-code the sermon manuscript.
